The A&E

GRAHAM NASH

which aired twice yesterday - was outstanding.
Great to see the photo's of Graham's parents and sisters.
A very positive, upbeat and well done bio of the man and his music.

Interview clips included:

Mac Holbert

Susan Nash

Elaine Nash (sister)

Tom Campbell (Guac Fund)

David Crosby

Jackson Browne

Allan Clarke

Carole King

Art Garfunkel

as well as plenty of discussion from the man himself.
Nice clean footage from the BBC Crosby and Nash show,
(nice to see the #'s not running on the bottom);
as well as studio tape of
CSN peforming "Laughing" and"Song with No Words" (Tree with no Leaves).
Seeing this rare footage is mouth watering...
There was also a snippet shown of CSN from NYC @ Pier 84 circa 1984-85.
Looks like these shows were filmed.... need it!
How about the commercial shown for Whistling Down the Wire - that was a rare find.

There was a nice commercial in there for SONGS FOR SURVIVORS as well.

Which - if you can't find it in your local record store, buy it online

or call

Report on ROCKLINE From A.Babcock
"He performed
Dirty Little Secret and Blizzard Of Lies live.

Note: (They were SOLO ACOUSTIC pieces - Lorraine)
Was very glowing towards Stephen, mentioning the Suite as his favorite
song/defining moment in his life. Mentioned songs that he'd wish he
wrote; Guinnevere, 4+20 & Helplessly Hoping. Mentioned how it was Stephen
who made "Teach" into the favorite it became by suggesting changes to it.
The touring band:Pevar, Raymond, Dean Parks, Russ Kunkel & Larry Klein.
NYC-Town Hall-9/18
A million commercials of course.
Nash was in Washington DC.
1st 6 callers were men. Graham was wondering where the women were.
I think only a couple got through. It was all men."

*Gracias*

Some photo's from the Birchmere 7/19 show

Chris Hillman and Herb Pederson

in Alexandria, VA

From Tim Ryan who went to the show:

"Chris Hillman and Herb Pederson out promoting their new CD " Way Out West". The set was made up of new music from Hillman - Pederson, The Desert Rose Band, Manassas, and The Byrds. Hillman introduced many of the songs with stories about the talented people and bands he has played in from Byrds with David Crosby, Manassas with Stephen Stills and Gram Parsons Project, it was great nite of music with lots of music history. The set list included "So Begins the Task" as recorded with Tony Rice Unit, "It Doesn't Matter" from Manassas and a very cool "Turn, Turn" from the Byrds. They both played and sang great, nice nite for the show, really enjoyed it."

Stephen Stills song "Do For the Others" from his 1st solo album of the same name
(Stephen Stills) can be heard in it's entirety in the film and on the movie soundtrack of

Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys

Based Upon: The novel of the same title by Chris Fuhrman, who died of cancer before the book, his first, was published in 1994.

Premise: A gang of Catholic school 8th grade students in 1974 Savannah get caught drawing an obscene comic book featuring priests and nuns having sex. As revenge for the punishment they received, they plan a prank on a mean one-legged nun (Jodie Foster) that they hope will also make them school legends, in addition to recovering the comic book.

A film student who saw the flick recently, told me:

"They put on Stephen's first solo lp.
They play 'Do For The Others' and it's featured prominently!

A girl puts on the record.
One guy says "

'I have this record,' and another character follows up by saying,
'Yeah, every song is good'"

Graham Nash: A Life in Harmony
He's the gentleman of Rock and Roll, who came up through the backstreets of a
working class town in Northern England. Raised on American music, he became a
key part of the Hollies, before he fell in with David Crosby and Stephen
Stills. He moved to America and became both a pillar and a peacemaker within
Crosby, Stills, Nash (and then Young).

This is for a friend who has been seeking the correct lyrics to
the Stephen Stills song from his first solo album

OLD TIMES GOOD TIMES.

The lyrics were never included in the first solo Stephen Stills record.
Here they are as per the Stephen Stills song book © 1973

(this songbook contains the sheetmusic for the 1st 2 Stills solo records)

Old Times Good Times
Stephen A. Stills
1970&1973 ©Gold Hill Music, Inc.

When I was young and needed my time alone,
Jump in the pirogue, pole down the Bayou
Bogafalaya River was dark and cold,
Seven years old,
I couldn't find my way home.

Old times, good times
Old times, good times

When I was twelve,
I learned how to play the guitar,
Got myself a job in a jax beer bar,

Got myself together,
Went to New Orleans,
Found myself working for rice and beans.

Old times, good times
Old times, good times

New York City was so damned cold,
I had to get out of that town before I got old,
California, rock and roll dream,
Got too high and we blew our whole scene,
But we had a good time.

Old times, good times
Old times, good times

What is a pirogue you ask?

A Cajun style pirogue is the perfect small craft for exploring and fishing sheltered lakes and ponds or small, shallow rivers. Extremely stable, you can stand up in a pirogue. A pirogue only draws a couple of inches of water, which allows the user to paddle or pole right over many obstructions that will stop a traditional canoe.
