This week in the Village Voice this blurb appears in the music listings:

CPR - David Crosby, Jeff Pevar and James Raymond.

Time for father, son, and friend to do it again: ring in the complex harmonies.
The media and rock bottom-feeders want to scapegoat Crosby and keep him a punchline. However, there have been few voices so sublime in the annals of rock history. And though Crosby self-depricatingly describes himself as "the purveyor of weird shit," his songcraft has always been consistently stunning and provocative.
After all his nine lives, Crosby can still hit that note.

2 passings that hit hard last year were Rick Danko and Doug Sahm.
Just found out that Doug’s last work will be released shortly.

This posthumous recording will be mostly a country effort
with some standards on it from our sir doug.

Here is the cd review from Newsday by Jon Young:

Doug Sahm "The Return of Wayne Douglas"

The great Doug Sahm could sing just about anything. Blues or R&B, Tex-Mex, or rock and roll, it was all the same to this eclectic Texan, whose warm, down-home vocals radiated soul, whatever the style. For "Wayne Douglas," the last album he recorded before his death last year, Sahm shifted full-force into country mode, belting out sentimental laments like a veteran honky-tonker. Framed by woeful fiddle and steel guitar, the steady rolling, "Huggin' Thin Air" recalls the solid Bakersfield groove, while "Cowbod Peyton Place" offers a loving tribute to those timeless cheatin' songs. Of course, ol' Doug could never stick to one style for long, as shown by his tender version of Dylan's "Minus Zero/No Limit" and the feel good boogie of "Yesterday Got in the Way." This swan song is a must for Sahm fanatics, and not a bad introduction to his brilliance for everyone else.

Today is BASTILLE DAY!

Bastille day in France, is the anniversary of the 1789 attack on the French prison,"The Bastille."

Toward the end of the 18th century, there was much discontentment among the people in Paris
with King Louis XVI. This led to an uprising of the people and to the destruction of the
Bastille.

Since July 14th, 1789, France has embraced the principles of national
sovereignty and human rights. The overthrow of the Bastille, symbolizes the
beginning of French democracy.

Bastille Day was declared a national holiday in 1880.

Ok MANASSAS fans...

It's time to check out my friend Al Babcock's memories of his

ALL TIME FAVORITE CONCERT!!

Stephen Stills and Manassas at The Spectrum in Philadelphia, PA

May 12th, 1972.

Changes are abounding at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas. Caesar's was bought out by Park Place
Entertainment last December. With these changes they have decided to close the legendary
Circus Maximus, and in it's place they will build luxury suites. They plan to build a temporary
special event facility on the back of the property that will hold 6000-7000 seats. It is not known
if they will build a permanent structure.

It's the end of a Golden era with the loss of the Circus Maximus at Caesar's Palace. Many
legendary acts performed there over the years, including Frank Sinatra. In later days, CSN fans
were lucky to see them grace the stage there as well as in Tahoe and Atlantic City for very
intimate shows.

I have not heard what plans are in the making for the other venues.

HOT off the press!!!

The POLLSTAR Mid-Year Special Edition

It just arrived here.

Check out the cover....

Issue dated: July 3rd, 2000

suitelorraine.com blowup of cover

They depict the top concert acts performing this year.

Tina, Clarence, Bruce, Ricky, KISS .... and CSNY !!!

This is FAB news

I do have a BIG gripe with the photo used.
It is a shot of Neil in the centre flanked by Stephen and David.
Graham is barely shown, only partially on the side of Stephen
with his back facing forward.
CSNY should have be represented properly; respectfully showing all 4 frontally.

None-the-less KUDOS going out to ALL the guys for a stellar tour....
and for making the COVER!!!

TNA (The Next Adventure), the CSNY 2000 Tour Promoter and SFX
(who during the course of the scheduling of the tour,
ate up TNA and folded it into the SFX conglomerate.)

They took out a full page ad in this special issue of POLLSTAR.

It is a lovely ad congratulating the guys and the production staff...

"Special thanks to Elliot Roberts, Frank Gironda, Gerry Tolman, Marsha Vlasic,
Donald "Duck" Dunn, Jim Keltner, Mike Sexton, Eric Johnson, Craig Sneiderman,
Tim Foster, Mason Wilkinson, and the entire CSNY staff and crew."

They bill it....

a TRIUMPHANT RETURN!!

*another suitelorraine.com exclusive news item*

The next few entries are more of the CSNY 2000 coverage in this issue of the concert hotwire... POLLSTAR

"When fans feel a tour is truly a special event, they will pay a stiff premium to be a part of it. The highly successful CSNY tour is a perfect example. Of course, when the public doesn't feel something is a landmark occasion worthy of busting the piggy bank, as in the Diana Ross & the Supremes tour, the result is vast oceans of empty seats."

C.O.A. here... (certificate of authenticity)

CSNY 2000 WAS A LANDMARK OCCASION INDEED !!!!

I am proud to announce the addition of an exclusive from Vasken Gurdjian.
Vasken, a Stills connoisseur; purchased a D-45 SS last year.
Here at suitelorraine.com he shares with the world the correspondance he
had with Stephen Stills. Please visit this link to read the exquisite letter
from Stephen. Thanks very much Vasken. You are a great friend and patron
of this site.

More thank you's are in order for fan submissions!
This time 'round we have:

*Mark White:
Check out the fan corner
for a Croz '88 book signing ad and a classic Hollies record ad for the single "Carrie Anne" that ran in the UK Magazine Melody Maker. Unfortunately it was published with a spelling error. They spelled it Carrie Ann, without the e.

*Jim Bright:
In the mid 80's, while in the Navy; Jim had a chance to be entertained by Stephen Stills on the USS Eisenhower, along with Cheap Trick. Jim is a big Stills fan and he had a chance to chat with him. It's a great memory for Jim. Check out a shot he photographed of Stephen that day in the fan corner.

THANK YOU!!!
